Herringbone Double Crochet Stitch (HBDC)

About This Technique

The Herringbone Double Crochet (HBDC) creates a fun textured pattern. The tilt of this stitch creates the distinctive Herringbone arrow-shape on the surface of the fabric. Herringbone patterns are a classic in menswear. This pattern is extremely difficult to shape, and does not work in the round, so the Herringbone Double Crochet needs to be used in flat pieces. It would work beautifully for a masculine scarf, or would be great for cozy afghans and baby blankets!
