The butterfly lace stitch create a fabric with offset eyelets that form butterfly motifs. Using strategically placed yarn overs, this beautiful stitch pattern looks like a field of butterflies flitting about. While it looks quite involved, the same pattern is repeated every four rows, just shifted over a few stitches.
