About This Stitch Pattern

This knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the check stitch. This stitch creates a series of checks in a diagonal pattern. The check stitch would be great to for adding texture to large or small projects such as, afghans, book covers or cowls!

Cast On: Multiples of 4 + 2

    • Row 1: K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.
    • Row 2: P2, * k2, p2; rep from * to end.
    • Row 3: K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.
    • Row 4: P2, * k2, p2; rep from * to end.
    • Row 5: P2, * k2, p2; rep from * to end.
    • Row 6: K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.
    • Row 7: P2, * k2, p2; rep from * to end.
    • Row 8: K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.

Repeat rows 1-8 until you have reached your desired length.
