Medallion Rib Stitch

About This Stitch Pattern

The medallion rib stitch consists of horizontal welts bordered by cabled columns. The resulting fabric looks like fancy ladders line up next to each other. This all-over cable pattern is best used in larger projects, where the juxtaposition of horizontal rows and vertical columns can really shine. While the components of this stitch are not complicated, there’s a lot to pay attention to, so it may be a little challenging if you are not super comfortable reading knitting patterns.
