“I’ve tried to do sweaters and I’ve never really been successful. I am so proud of this sweater. It fits perfectly and it looks great.”
You can cast on in your sleep. You’ve finished scarves, shawls, socks, and blankets. Maybe even colorwork. But when you think about knitting a sweater, the same worries pop up:
Sweaters aren’t beyond you. They’re just a different kind of project. Once you understand the fit, the gauge, and the construction, you already have the skills to do the rest.
Sweater Knitting Weekend is where it finally all comes together.
Not every pretty skein wants to be a sweater. Learn what to look for in fiber, weight, and drape so you stop guessing in the yarn store.
Gauge decides whether your sweater fits or becomes a cautionary tale. We’ll make swatching simple, practical, and worth your time.
Which measurements matter most for a raglan? How much ease should you choose? You’ll get a clear checklist so you can measure once and trust your numbers.
We’ll walk through the math together until it clicks: cast-on counts, yoke shaping, sleeve splits, and where ease fits into the picture.
Collars, necklines, sleeves, color, texture. Once you understand the structure, you can confidently tweak patterns or design your own.
Founder of The Yarnist • Your Guide for the Weekend
I’ve been teaching knitters for 15 years. The thing I hear most is: “I’d love to knit a sweater, but I’m scared it won’t fit.”
I remember feeling that way too. Sweaters feel like this big mystery, but once you understand a few core ideas, everything gets easier. From choosing the perfect sweater yarn to using gauge and measurements to plan your own project, WITHOUT a pattern.
As founder of The Yarnist, I’ve helped tens of thousands of knitters build real, transferable skills. And through our summits, bootcamps, and workshops more and more people are learning to be Fearless Knitters.
Sweater Knitting Weekend is the event I wish I had when I started. Three focused days, no fluff. Packed with the knowledge you need to stop doubting yourself and start knitting sweaters on purpose.
At The Yarnist, we believe becoming a Fearless Knitter is about understanding how knitting works. That means not blindly following a pattern. That kind of knowledge shouldn’t be gatekept. That’s what Day 1 and Day 2 are all about.
But if you want to work through everything together during Day 3, there’s an entirely optional SuperPass upgrade.
Each session builds on the last. By the end of the weekend,
you’ll understand both the big picture and the details of raglan sweaters.
Includes one extended 50-minute deep-dive session.
Just yourself. No yarn, needles, or project required to attend. Watch, learn, and ask questions. All sessions run one at a time. A private link will be emailed to you before the event.
All sessions are free to replay for 48 hours after each day. Watch on your own schedule. SuperPass holders also unlock the bonus Day 3 workshop, plus lifetime access to all recordings, transcripts, and printable resources.
Right now, you might scroll past sweater patterns thinking, “Someday.” Or you start reading the instructions and quietly close the tab.
After this weekend, you won’t be stuck searching for the perfect sweater pattern. You’ll have everything you need to knit a sweater WITHOUT a pattern. One you’ll actually wear.
This isn’t about finishing a sweater in three days. It’s about finally understanding how sweaters work, so your next sweater isn’t a leap of faith. It’s a plan you trust.
“I doubt that I’ll ever follow a published pattern again! Thank you for this knowledge!”
