The Extended Single Crochet (ESC)

Step 1: Insert hook from front to back through stitch to be worked.
Step 2: Yo hook.
Step 3: Draw loop through fabric.
Step 4: Yo and draw through first loop only, forming a chain stitch.
Step 5: Yo and draw through both loops on hook.

About This Technique

The Extended Single Crochet Stitch is a variation of the Single Crochet, but we add an additional step in the process of making the Single Crochet that gives more height to the stitch, and a different texture.
