This video will help you learn how to knit the slip slip knit (ssk) decrease. This technique is used to remove stitches from your knitting and help shape your work. You will need to know how to decrease in order to knit hats, sweaters, and some mittens and gloves. This particular decrease technique has a left leaning slant and is used with the knit two together (k2tog), which slants right, to keep your decrease balanced when doing shaping on a garment.

Abbreviation: ssk

Step 1: Slip the first stitch off the main needle onto your working needle.

Step 2: Slip the second stitch off the main needle onto your working needle.

Step 3: Insert your main needle knitwise into the two stitch that were slipped onto your working needle.

Step 4: Wrap your working yarn over your working needle (the needle on the bottom).

Step 5: Pull the yarn toward you through both stitches with your working needle.

Step 6: Slip both stitches off the main needle.
