The Alternative Slip Slip Knit (SSK) Decrease

About This Technique

The Alternative Slip Slip Knit Decrease is a variation of the Slip Slip Knit decrease. It’s a method of removing stitches from your work to shape your work. This method makes a left leaning decrease, and is a mirror of the Knit Two Together decrease. The Alternative SSK modifies the SSK to make a slightly flatter decrease.

Technique Instructions

  • Step 1: Slip first stitch knitwise with working needle.
  • Step 2: Slip the second stitch purlwise with the working needle.
  • Step 3: Insert your main needle into the two slipped stitches on the working needle.
  • Step 4: Knit the two stitches together.
