The German Slip Stitch Selvedge is an edge stitch that gives a finished look to your fabric. This particular selvedge creates a smooth edge, similar to the edge of stockinette stitch. However, the German Slip Stitch Selvedge is made by knitting the first stitch of the row, and slipping the last stitch or the row purlwise. This makes a longer stitch on each row, which not only looks nicer, but makes seaming much easier.
