The Reverse Garter Selvedge Edge

Example of the Reverse Garter Selvedge Edge Knitting Stitch

About This Technique

The reverse garter selvedge is an edge stitch that gives a finished look to your fabric. It makes seaming easier or be a decorative element. This particular selvedge creates a bumpy ridged edge, similar to the edge of garter stitch. However, the reverse garter selvedge is made by purling the first and last stitches of every row. This provides some contrast regardless of what the main fabric stitch is.
