This video knitting tutorial will help you learn how to knit the purled on cast on. This method of starting your work is similar to the knit on cast on, but creates a row of purl stitches. It’s great to use when starting on the wrong side of your work.
Step 1: Create a slip knot and place it on your main needle.
Step 2: With your working yarn in front, insert your working needle into the stitch on your main needle purlwise.
Step 3: Wrap your working yarn over you working needle, going over the top and in-between the two needles.
Step 4: Push the working yarn through the stitch, away from you, drawing out some extra slack.
Step 5: Place the loop just created onto the tip of the main needle and tighten down.
Tip Keep the working needle in the loop as you tighten it down. This will help keep your cast on stitches from being too tight.
Repeat steps 2 – 5 until you have cast on your desired number of stitches.
